Setting student groups (學生分組)

Grouping in VLE is a powerful and collaborative tool as it can provide a platform for students to discuss and organize themselves. For example, in liberal studies, group discussion is always confined in the lesson and students may rarely discuss the issues after the lesson.  Through using VLE platform, teachers can arrange some online discussion and allow students to share their opinions at home. Moreover, it can lower teachers' burden as teacher can set the assignments as "group submission" and each group will have one submission for all users of that group. 

VLE中的分組是一種強大的協作工具，因為它可以為學生提供一個討論和組織自己的平台。例如︰小組討論總是局限在通識教育課堂上進行，而在課後學生很少討論這些課題。通過使用VLE平台，教師可以安排一些線上討論，並允許學生在家中分享他們的意見。此外，它可以減輕教師的負擔，因為教師可以將作業設置為“小組提交”，並且每個小組對於該組的所有用戶都有一個提交。

 

Step1: Click on the section 'people' after entering to the course. 

步驟1：進入課程後，點擊「人員」部分。

 

 

Step 2:  After entering 'people', you will see all the students in your course. Then click on the button 'add Group set' on the right-hand corner. 

步驟2：進入「人員」後，您將看到課程中的所有學生。然後，單擊右上角的「群組設置」按鈕。

 

Step 3: A small window will pop up . Then you may set up the details of new group set. Group set is a general name or container that holds a number of Groups, for example, I want to divide students into different groups for Assignment 1. The name of group set can be named as 'Assignment 1'. For the next assignment, you may create another new group set if you want students to have different members. Students will be allowed to form groups by themselves if you tick in the 'allow self sign-up' box. Moreover, you may set if you want  to divide students into certain number of groups automatically by ticking the box 'splitting students into XX groups'. When you finish all the group setting, you may click on 'save' and move on to the next steps. 

第3步：一個小窗口將會彈出。然後，您可以設置新群組集合(Group set)的詳細信息。群組集合是一個通用名稱或包含多個群組，例如，我想學生分為不同群組來完成作業1，群組集合的名稱可以命名「作業1」。對於下一個作業，如果您希望學生有更多機會與其他學生合作，則可以創建另一個新的群組集合。如果您在“允許自我註冊”框中打勾，則允許學生自行分組。此外，您可以通過勾選「將學生分成XX組」框來設置是否自動將學生分為若干組。完成所有組設置後，可以單擊「保存」並繼續進行下一步。

 

Step 4: Under 'Assignment 1', you can see the number of unassigned students and their names. Then click on the 'add Group' box under the blue box.
步驟4：在「作業1」下，您會看到未指派的學生的數量及其姓名。然後點擊位於藍色框下方的「群組」框。

 

Step 5: A new small window will pop up again. You may set limit to the group size. After finishing all the setting, click on 'save'. 

步驟5：新的小窗口將再次彈出。您可以為群組大小設置限制。完成所有設置後，單擊「保存」。

 

Step 6: After adding a group in a group set, you may drag the unassigned students into the new group.

步驟6：把群組添加到群組集合(Group set)後，您可以將未分配的學生拖到新小組中。
